Search Group Solutions has an exciting opportunity with a Seattle based apparel and fashion company seeking a Traffic and Shipping Manager for their Kent, WA site. This is the perfect for the person with an entrepreneurial spirit and is successful at managing small teams.

This hands-on position will be responsible for managing all aspects of drayage to and outbound transportation from our Kent Facility.  This role will coordinate daily with shipping and receiving leads and customer service team to create a work plan that continually strives to exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations.  This position will also manage the shipping lead and coordinate DC Associate tasking with the other DC managers.  

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  
o Learn relationships between Sales, Merchandising, Customer Service, Distribution Center, IT and Finance to gain an overall general understanding of our operation  
o Execute and support strategic plans in coordination with VP of Customer Experiences and DC Manager
o Coordinate with inbound traffic to monitor shipments from Asia and set game plan for each container arrival
o Prepare, book, and track inbound drayage from any local port to our Kent DC 
o Prepare and book less than truckload and truckload shipments from our Kent DC, understanding various customers compliance requirements
o Supervise and manage daily work of teammates encouraging a spirit of development and entrepreneurship 
o Ensure adherence to proper operational and safety procedures, while being a visible and vocal advocate for safety
o Identify and minimize inventory loss and customer chargebacks under span of control
o Review vendor invoicing and route to accounting for payment 

Job Requirement

  •  5+ years in supervisory logistics role in a Distribution Center environment, apparel industry experience preferred
  •  Solid understanding of all aspects of warehousing and distribution management, including understanding customs requirements
  •  Excellent planning, organizational and communication abilities both written and verbal
  •  Experienced with warehouse management systems, specifically WM2009.1 preferred
  •  Familiarity with local ocean freight terminals and trucking companies a plus
  •  Excellent sense of teamwork and flexibility 
  •  Knack for continuous process improvement, and willingness to share new ideas with management
  •  Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers; Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  •  Forklift experience preferred, but will train the right candidate
  •  Sensitivity, confidentiality, diplomacy, and strong ethics is required at all times.
